OK for those of you who are sceptical about horror movies being as bone chilling as they are in their trailers; as appose to when you actually watch the full film, I assure you that this movie is a freezer so to speak.
I have been quite disappointed with the latest surge of horror movies having a stereotypical "live camera," point of view. With a generation of flicks overdosed with CG effects and computer animations modern horrors have undoubtedly come off to me as "cheesy,"if the graphics in a movie aren't up to par; CG characters are a hard gig to pull off.
What happened to the good old days of deep storyline, great acting and creative creature modelling that gave a realistic appeal?
Thankfully SINISTER has a minimal amount of computer graphics and shines bright, or shall I say dark in its grasping plot and refreshing concept of a scary movie.
The acting is superb and the atmosphere is eerie and cold throughout the whole movie. The "jump" scenes are guaranteed to lift you out of your seat like a trampoline and the music is just creepy as hell. I honestly give huge kudos to the creators of the soundtrack because it really compliments the movies freaky moments and adds an effective sound contrast to the visuals.
The only downside I disected from the film was that it got a little bit cheesy near the end. I will not ruin events in the movie but some scenes made me feel a bit embarassed to be watching... But the pros definately outweigh the cons. I found the movie better than most modern horrors overall. Prepare yourself to perceive an induldging amount of sick and twisted imagery with a vile main character Beghoul. Your retinas will be hiding under the bedsheets at night gauranteed.
